What is our Divemaster course like?

Are you looking to take the first step towards working in diving as a career? Your adventure at the professional levels of recreational diving begins with the Divemaster program. Working closely with an Instructor, in this program you will expand your diving knowledge and polish your techniques to a professional level. Divemaster training develops your leadership skills, and qualifies you to supervise diving activities and assist instructors with student divers. The Divemaster is the prerequisite for the Assistant Instructor and Open Water Scuba Instructor certifications.

You will be qualified to:

During the Divemaster program, you will learn dive leadership techniques through both classroom and independent study. You will perform techniques in the water and resistance exercises, you will also train with exercises that will increase your organizational and problem-solving skills as well as help others improve their diving. You will put this knowledge to work through a structured integration period or a series of practical training exercises. As you progress through your Divemaster course, you will expand your diving knowledge, perfect your diving techniques and increase your confidence. Then, as a Divemaster, you will use these attributes to guide, advise and motivate other divers and to enjoy the joy of seeing them transformed by the majesty of the aquatic world.

Course details:

PREREQUISITES

  • Be 18 years old
  • Be an Advanced Open Water Diver (or have an equivalent certificate from another training organization
  • Be a Rescue Diver (or have an equivalent certificate from another training organization)
  • Have completed the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care course within the last 24 months
  • Have at least 40 dives at the beginning of the course and 60 when certified
  • Be fit to dive and present a Medical Statement signed by a doctor within the last 12 months

INCLUDES

  • All the necessary material to develop the activity both inside and outside the water.
  • Departures from boat.
  • It is recommended that you be in possession of your own scuba equipment, as becoming familiar with your own equipment improves overall diving skills.
