FEATURES OF THE FIREPLACE

To the east of Punta Codolada, at the northern end of Punta Grosa, there is an area that offers many diving areas. It anchors near the wall, over 25 m deep. From the anchor the dive begins with the wall to the right. This falls steeply, until it reaches the sand that dominates from 32 m. Large rocky blocks rest on it, and in the cracks and overhangs that form at its base it is possible to find red coral.

A TUNNEL FULL OF LIFE

The tour begins in the deepest area; After visiting the coral, continue along the wall until you reach a large rock full of holes. A little further on, at a depth of 25 m, there is a set of rocks from which you begin to climb towards the wall, up to a depth of about 12 m. It is here, about 200 m from the anchorage, where the entrance to a short tunnel opens that allows the passage of a single diver and leads to La Chimenea. Inside you can discover crabs, porcelain, shrimp and Norway lobster. The chimney, whose bottom is sandy, consists of a round tunnel, about 3 m in diameter, which rises vertically until it appears on the surface of the cliff.

During the ascent, the play of light created by the sun's rays can be observed. When the sea is rough, the chimney becomes a real geyser that expels water. After visiting the chimney, which should only be climbed if one is sure of compensating again during the descent, the return to the anchorage is undertaken. We dive next to the wall, which is now kept to the left, at a depth of about 17 m, admiring the white gorgonians that cover this area. Near the anchoring area, the wall reveals the entrance to another cave that penetrates 15 m into the rock and is found at a depth of 17 m. The immersion can end with a visit to this cave, if the air reserve allows it. In addition to the species mentioned, this underwater walk allows you to meet moray eels, scorpion fish, groupers, corvallos and other fish.
